Top Tips on how to get the most out of the SPRTER app

The SPRTER app is a new sport experience platform that can be an extremely useful, free tool to help Sporters (our term for sports influencers: athletes, retired athletes, coaches, media personalities, teams, leagues, brands, sport-related charities) connect with their followers on a whole new level, add an extra stream of income, build their personal brand, reach new businesses, land sponsorship deals, and make a difference. To set you up for success, here are our top tips to help you get the most out of the SPRTER app:

1. Build a strong profile on the app

This is quite simple. All this requires is:

  • an action shot for a profile picture (this makes you look really good when you’re highlighted as the Featured Sporter on the home screen)
  • a good bio which tells users a little about you
  • a minimum of 12 posts (utilize all sections of your profile to provide profile visitors with as much info about you as possible!)
  • something under each section of your profile (My Favorites is for your biggest sporting accomplishment & favorite moments. My Career is to highlight where you have played throughout your career. My Highlights is for your best sports highlights. My Achievements & Stats is where you can highlight what you’ve accomplished throughout your career in words. My Sponsors is to highlight any sponsors of yours. My Causes and Community is for all your charitable efforts and highlighting causes you are passionate about. My Spotlight is for everything else. Keep your followers up-to-date on everything else that is going on with you there)
  • an I Support link (a URL to a charitable organization, event or fundraiser that you’re passionate about – this appears under your My Causes & Community section and makes you look very good)
  • link your Venmo and/or PayPal and create a fundraiser with the Support Me section (also makes you look very good)
  • link your other social media accounts so users know it’s really you
  • enable and organize your Experience Store!
  • enable and organize any Limited Edition Signed Pictures you want to sell!

2. Set up your personal Experience Store

The Experience Store offers a wide range of in-person, virtual, individual and organizational experiences that you can sell to your supporters and to businesses. Go through the options and enable every option that you would be willing to offer. It is always good to provide others with options to choose from. If you are in search of endorsement or sponsorship deals, make sure to enable those options through the business tab of the Experience Store feature. We suggest setting your prices low at first to spark initial interest. Keep in mind that this type of engagement and positive experiences also lead to more loyal fans, so think about what your time is worth, but also set a low price for which you’d be willing to complete the experience request. As you start to get more and more customers, you can begin to raise prices or restrict the amount of requests you complete. If you are donating a portion of your earnings to charity, add that to each description of the experiences you offer in your store, it always looks good to contribute to communities.

3. Start selling Limited Edition Signed Pictures

This is our newest feature in the SPRTER app that is quite similar to NFTs. Sporters can now upload images, sign them and/or add a message, limit the quantity made available for sale, and set the price. Other users can then purchase and collect them.

Users who buy them will have the limited edition signed picture appear under a new section on their profile called My Collection. Only limited edition signed pictures purchased through the SPRTER app can appear under this section – this is how you know they are originals. They cannot appear anywhere else.

4. Post on the SPRTER app regularly

Our algorithms have been built to favour those who stay active. The most recent posts appear at the top of the feed, at the top of the Explore page, and there is also a Experience Discovery page where those who have their Experience Store enabled and post, will appear at the top of the page. This will appear on the home screen, so this will give you maximum exposure. To remain front of mind, post, at minimum, weekly. Make sure to post engaging content that shows some of your highlights but also provides insights into your daily life and the person behind the athlete.

5. Utilize your other social media channels to educate your followers

SPRTER is a new platform and one which obviously doesn’t have the same size of userbase as the likes of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok. These platforms have been around for much longer and it is likely that you have developed strong followings on them. We do not see SPRTER as a direct competitor, but rather a supplementary platform which can help Sporters monetize their followings on those other platforms. In order to do that, you need to inform your audiences. There are a number of ways of doing this; adding your handle on SPRTER in your bios with a sentence guiding your followers to your Experience Store, posting stories regularly (which doesn’t clutter your feed with too many posts about the same thing), adding a highlight to your Instagram page outlining what you have on offer in your Experience Store, posting a regular feed post about it, running promotions regarding your experience offerings (e.g. today only – all experiences 10 SporterCoins) and much more! You can always get creative with how you promote. You can even post asking your followers what experiences they would be interested in buying from you and then we can potentially have those experiences added (if we deem them appropriate and doable).

5. Respond quickly!

Once you start receiving experience requests, it is important that you respond to them as quickly as possible. This will keep customers happy, coming back, and telling their friends about it (the strongest form of marketing for you and your Experience Store). This is about building personal relationships with your followers and, to do so, you need to be attainable. This will help you humanize yourself instead of making your followers feel as though you are this unreachable entity. Once you have accepted the request, complete it as soon as possible. To avoid waiting times for buyers, there is a 7 days time limit for completion for each experience once it has been accepted. Otherwise, the request will be automatically cancelled and the money will be returned to the buyer. So, only accept an experience if you know you can complete it within the next week. Also, remember to set the experience to complete once it is completed, otherwise the coins won’t be released to you. Also, make sure to try and respond to comments and DM’s whenever possible. This is another way for your followers to connect with you.

As well as these general tips (that all SPRTER users should be actioning) there are some more specific tips to help you accomplish key goals detailed below:

If you are interested, DM us on social media @sprterapp or email us at contact@sprter.com. We are trying to make the transition to using the app as easy as possible. This also helps users see what a good profile looks like, but it can always be better, so, keep working on it!

A brand-new personal assistant service called SPRTER GOLD will soon be available to users too. If you decide to opt in, you would be assigned a SPRTER rep to help you set up, organize, run, and promote your Experience Store on the app!
