Herbert, aka Zerch, is a Guinness Book World Record Holder from Lumberton, New Jersey. He started getting into fitness in January 2012 to overcome stress and take care of his body. In 2014, he became a Certified Personal Trainer with ACE Fitness specializing in Sports Conditioning, Functional Training, and Weight Management. As a child, he was always fascinated by the Guinness Book of Records. Then, in March 2019, he hosted an event at Diesel Gym in North Brunswick, New Jersey for the Guinness Book of World Records: Heaviest Zercher Squat with a record breaking 637lb / 289.21kg Zercher Squat. He wants to empower people through fitness and fight in the battle against bullying of all forms.
We had the chance to get to know Herbert a little bit better.
Do you have any words of advice to aspiring athletes?
Perfect your craft. Find your weaknesses so you can become stronger.
What do you hope to still achieve?
To open my own gym and be financially comfortable.
Who is your sporting idol/someone you looked up to growing up?
Mike Tyson. He was a beast in the ring with a killer instinct. His training and aura makes me want to work harder in my athleticism.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Find a restaurant that has great food. I am not a picky eater at all.
Besides the sport(s) you compete in, what is your favorite sport?
WWE. I been a fan of wrestling since I was born. I enjoy the entertainment aspect, but if you ask me to jump in a ring and take bumps I will do it in a heartbeat.
