Daniela Jentsch – The Sports Soldier

Daniela Jentsch

Daniela is a German professional curler for Team Jentsch. Last year, she captained her team to one of their most successful years ever. They managed to take home gold at the German Championships, gold at the Qinghai Elite tournament, bronze at the European Championships, and they managed two more semi-final finishes as well! Daniela is a product of the military and is actually still an active member of the German Armed Forces. Besides being an elite athlete, Daniela is a mother of two and a passionate philanthropist. She is an active supporter of Red Nose Day and Right To Play which both aim to aid children worldwide.

We had a little chat with Daniela to get to know her a little better.

What is your biggest sporting accomplishment?

It would be winning the bronze medal at the European Championships in Tallinn back in 2018. I was so proud of myself and my team. I will never forget that day!

Do you have any words of advice to aspiring athletes?

The best piece of advice I can give is; hard work and discipline are much more important than talent.

If you weren’t an athlete what would you be?

I think I would probably be a doctor. I love to help people, and it would be very gratifying.

Do you have an interesting/crazy story related to your sporting career?

I’m actually funded by the German military. I’m a sports soldier who is a full-time athlete during the season and I attend military training in the summers.

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you want to meet and why?

I think I would have to choose Tiger Woods, but only because I really want to learn how to golf.
